Course Title

Paradigm Shifts in the Management of Acute Stroke in the Emergency Department

Target Audience

Emergency department physicians, neurologists, and other health care professionals active in the treatment of stroke.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to

  • Successfully utilize recent stroke guidelines to properly evaluate and treat
    patients to minimize long-term disability
  • Discuss the role of neuroprotectants in the abatement of injury to brain tissue
  • Evaluate the utility of each of the commonly used scales in the diagnosis of an
    acute stroke

Accreditation and Credit Designation Statement

The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing
Medical Education courses for physicians. The University of Michigan designates
this educational activity for a maximum of 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
